In the summer of 2014, Human Ecology: Rivers took students to the Kushiro region in Eastern Hokkaido to learn about local environmental initiatives there. The course was a great success, as students discovered how government, community, and experts worked together to protect the Kushiro Wetland and other environmental assets.
