Prof. Tsuchiya has taught river engineering and have worked on civil engineering projects throughout Japan. In particular, he has worked with the Tokyo Metropolitan government as a civil engineer.
In his lecture, Prof. Tsuchiya will talk about the dilemma between the recent concern for environmental protection and Japan’s history of river engineering for flood control and economic use. The lecture will be in Japanese (English interpretation will be provided by Professor Watanabe).
